It's finally here, guys - the calendar has shifted into October, the leaves are starting to turn colors, and the Halloween season is fully upon us. And even though the temperature is starting to drop, that doesn't mean that car enthusiasts like you and us have to start wrapping up our vehicles and storing them away for the upcoming seasons.

The Halloween season - and October in general - is a hotbed for some of the best car shows, haunted drive throughs, and fall-themed meets that you can find. We've combed through some of the best going on in Wisconsin and Illinois this month, so if you're posted up in the Upper Midwest and looking for something to do over the next couple weeks, don't worry - we've got your plans set. The Halloween Experience (Elgin, IL - All Throughout October)

We'll start with a Halloween event that's more along the lines of "family-friendly fun" and less on the "surrounded by cool cars" side of the spectrum, but don't worry - we'll get there. Elgin is one of the largest of Chicago's suburbs, and its Halloween Experience bills itself as being "for families and those who love Halloween but don't want to be scared."

If that sounds lame, it's not - in fact, this has been rated America's #1 Halloween destination. It's Chicago's only Halloween drive-thru, and it comes complete with music, light shows, 50-foot decorations, and of course, the chance to flex a little bit with your ride. The Halloween Experience is open on weekends throughout October, so if you've been looking for a way to give your family an awesome Halloween experience while also showing off your new wheels and tires, here's your shot.

Fall Festival & Chili Cook-Off (Mascoutah, IL - October 15, 2022)

About an hour east of St. Louis lies Mascoutah, Illinois, who on October 15 will be hosting a huge fall festival, chili cook-off, and car show in its downtown area. Every make, model, and year is welcome to be entered, so whether you've got an OG car from the mid-30s or a brand-new pickup, or you've got it custom-built or stock, it'll be on display.

Best yet, there'll be first, second, and third-place trophies handed out in 20 classes of cars and trucks, so if you think your build is trophy-worthy, now is the chance to prove it. Plus, the chili cookoff contest comes with a $1000 prize for the winner, a craft and vendor fair, and plenty of other entertainment options all day long. Perfect way to spend a Saturday if you ask us.

Nightmare on Downers Grove (Downers Grove, IL -October 15, 2022)

If you can't make it down to Mascoutah for the show, don't worry - there's other stuff going on in the burbs on October 15 too. This'll be the second year in a row that Downers Sand Club in Downers Grove, Illinois will be hosting its "Nightmare on Downers Grove" Anything on Wheels Car Show. Cars, trucks, SUVs, bikes, and more are welcome to enter, and there are plenty of trophies for Best in Show, Best Crew, Best Female and Male Driven vehicles, and even a costume contest. To wrap it all up, there'll be live music, a pie eating contest, and a 50/50 raffle, which sounds like a great time to us.

BMS Car Club Halloween Car and Bikes Show (River Grove, IL - October 23, 2022)

River Grove's BMS Car Club is also hosting an awesome Halloween-inspired car show happening later on in the month, with entry opportunities for cars, lowrider bikes, motorcycles, ATVs, and more. Not only will you get a trophy if your car is the Best Decorated, but there's also costume contests for both men and women.

Like most of the other events on our list you will have to register, but all proceeds from registration fees, 50/50 raffle entries, and others will go to feed the homeless in the Chicagoland area. So for a perfect Halloween vibe and a great cause, we've got your Saturday plans taken care of.

Caffeine and Chrome (Kenosha, WI - October 29, 2022)

Head up to Kenosha on the last Saturday before Halloween for a good-ol' classic car show. Caffeine and Chrome, happening at Gateway Classic Cars of Milwaukee, is a perfect place for both daily drivers and classic muscle cars, and there's also a museum like, right there that houses some of the best classic, exotic, and muscle cars in American history. Come hang out and see the best builds that the Upper Midwest has to offer.
