Audi B7 A4 Fitment Guide: Bolt Pattern, Wheel & Tire Sizes
Updated June 2026 · Originally published Jun 2022Every Audi B7 A4, sold from mid-2005 through 2008, runs a 5x112mm bolt pattern with a 57.1mm hub bore and M14x1.5 ball-seat lug bolts torqued to 89 lb-ft. The aftermarket sweet spot is 18x8.5 to 19x8.5 with offsets from +35 to +45, and the chassis wears a flush 19 as naturally as any sedan of its era.
The B7 A4 has quietly become one of the best cheap German cars you can build. The 2.0T loves a tune, quattro grip comes standard on most of them, and the tidy proportions take a flush 18 or 19 like the designers planned for it. Twenty years on, clean examples cost less than a nice set of forged wheels, which makes the math on a full build very friendly. Here's everything that fits.

Which A4 Is a B7?
The B7 ran from mid-2005 (the “2005.5” model year) through 2008 in sedan, Avant wagon, and Cabriolet forms, plus the V8-powered S4 and the RS4. Under the skin it's a deep refresh of the 2002-2005 B6, which matters for wheel shoppers: B6 and B7 share the same 5x112 pattern and 57.1mm hub bore, so wheels swap freely between them. The one to watch is the next car: the 2009+ B8 moved to a larger 66.5mm hub, and that changes everything about interchange (details in the FAQ). If your A4 is a 2009 or newer, you want the B8 A4 fitment guide instead.
Wheel Specs: Bolt Pattern, Hub Bore and Hardware
| Spec | Audi B7 A4 (2005.5–2008) |
|---|---|
| Bolt pattern | 5x112mm |
| Hub bore (center bore) | 57.1mm |
| Hardware | M14x1.5 lug bolts, ball seat |
| Torque spec | 89 lb-ft (120 Nm), star pattern |
| Bolt count | 5 per wheel |
The Audi Hardware Rules
Same drill as every Audi of this era, and skipping any of it costs you a comeback trip:
Lug bolts, not nuts. The wheels bolt into the hub, so bolt length has to match the new wheel's mounting pad, and spacers demand longer bolts.
Factory ball seat, aftermarket conical. Audi's stock bolts are ball seat and nearly all aftermarket wheels want 60 degree conical hardware. Running the wrong seat contacts on an edge and works loose, so a set of conical M14x1.5 bolts goes with any aftermarket wheel order. Our lug hardware guide has the two-minute version.
Hub rings for the 57.1mm bore. Most aftermarket wheels ship with a larger center bore, and rings bridge the gap so the wheel centers on the hub instead of hanging on the bolts. They cost almost nothing and they're the difference between a smooth highway and a mystery vibration. Both live in wheel accessories.
Factory Wheel and Tire Sizes
| Trim (typical) | Wheel | Tire |
|---|---|---|
| Base 2.0T | 16″ | 215/55R16 |
| 2.0T / 3.2 quattro | 17″ | 235/45R17 |
| S line / S4 | 18″ | 235/40R18 |
Those 16s and 17s make excellent dedicated winter setups once you've upgraded: cheaper rubber, more sidewall for potholes, and your summer wheels stay off the salt. S4 owners should verify caliper clearance on anything under 17 inches, since the V8 car's brakes fill the wheel.
What Fits on Stock Suspension
No suspension work needed to transform this car. The proven stock-height recipe is 19x8.5 +38 with 245/35R19, exactly what the Volk-equipped 2008 above is running, with zero rubbing and zero trimming. Prefer more sidewalk-friendly sidewall? The 18 inch route is 18x8.5 +35 with 235/40R18.
| Diameter | Wheels | Tires |
|---|---|---|
| 18″ | 18x8.5 +35 | 235/40R18 |
| 19″ | 19x8.5 +38 | 245/35R19 |
What Fits With Lowering Springs
Springs drop the B7 about an inch on the stock dampers and close the fender gap for a fraction of coilover money. The flush F27 build above is the template: 18x8.5 +45 with 225/40R18. The higher offset plus the drop lines the wheel face up with the fender almost perfectly.
| Diameter | Wheels | Tires |
|---|---|---|
| 18″ | 18x8.5 +45 | 225/40R18 |
| 19″ | 19x8.5 +45 | 225/35R19 |

What Fits With Coilovers
Coilovers hand you the ride height dial and open up the wider, lower-offset end of the envelope. The proven combos are 18x9 +30 with 235/45R18 (the Aodhan build above) and 19x9.5 +35 with 235/35R19 for the aggressive look. Past 9 inches wide at a low ride height, plan on rolled fenders as routine maintenance for the stance.
| Diameter | Wheels | Tires |
|---|---|---|
| 18″ | 18x9 +30 | 235/45R18 |
| 19″ | 19x9.5 +35 | 235/35R19 |

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the bolt pattern on an Audi B7 A4?
5x112mm with a 57.1mm hub bore, using M14x1.5 ball-seat lug bolts torqued to 89 lb-ft. Same for every B7 year (2005.5 through 2008), the Avant, the Cabriolet, and the S4 and RS4, though the S and RS cars carry bigger brakes.
Will B8 A4 wheels fit my B7 (and vice versa)?
One direction works. B8 wheels have a 66.5mm center bore, larger than your 57.1mm hub, so they fit a B7 with the right hub-centric rings. Going the other way is a hard no: B7 wheels physically cannot slide over a B8's bigger hub without machine work. B6 wheels (2002-2005) share your specs and swap freely.
What size wheels fit a B7 A4?
Factory sizes run 16 to 18 inches. Aftermarket, the proven range is 18x8.5 through 19x9.5 with offsets from +30 to +45. The safe pick is 18x8.5 +35 to +45; the flush look is 19x8.5 +38 to +45; and the aggressive ceiling is 19x9.5 +35 on coilovers with rolled fenders.
Do I need hub-centric rings?
Almost always. Aftermarket wheels typically ship with a bore larger than the B7's 57.1mm hub, and rings fill the difference so the wheel centers properly. Without them you're chasing a highway-speed vibration that balancing can't cure. They're cheap and they come correctly sized with an SD Wheel package.
Can I reuse my factory lug bolts on aftermarket wheels?
No. Factory Audi bolts are ball seat and nearly all aftermarket wheels are machined for conical seat. The mismatch loosens over time, which is the failure mode you least want on a wheel. Conical M14x1.5 bolts cost little, and spacers require longer ones on top.
